Welcome to Bay Area Wilderness Training's virtual gear library!

The BAWT Gear Library uses myTurn, a lending library platform, to keep track of all of our gear reservations and make sure we have the gear you’ve reserved when it’s time to go out on your trip! It also helps us track our impact on the communities we serve.

BAWT Gear Library FAQs

• Who needs a myTurn account? All gear library users will need a myTurn account to reserve gear.
• Can my school/organization share a myTurn account? Each myTurn account should be for an individual, not an organization. If multiple trip leaders at your school or organization are BAWT-trained, we recommend that each trip leader makes their own account.

Reserve in Advance: You will need to reserve your gear 4 weeks in advance of when you plan to pick the gear up. Start early! Most times that people have difficulties reserving gear, it is because they began the process too late.

FEBRUARY GEAR LIBRARY ANNOUNCEMENTS

SPRING RESERVATIONS

• Spring Reservations are open: Gear reservations are now open through May 23. We expect to open summer reservations in the next month and we will send an announcement when we do.
• April and May: We strongly encourage those with April or May trips coming up to submit your gear reservations as soon as possible. It's always easy to cancel a reservation you don't need anymore or update it when things change, and it's much harder to make a reservation once all the gear is booked up and our calendar is full!
• If you were reserving gear under a GLO membership that has since expired, sign up for an FLT or WLT for continued access: bawt.org/courses

UPCOMING CLOSURES

• Spring Break Closure, April 2-4: The Gear Library will be closed April 2-4 in observance of spring break. The last date for gear appointments before this closure is Thursday, March 28. The next date for gear appointments following this close will be Tuesday, April 9. Please note these dates if you are planning a trip for the end of March or beginning of April and submit your gear requests before the end of February.
• May Closure, May 28-31: The Gear Library will be closed as BAWT staff will be attending a youth outdoor education conference out of state. We're so excited for the opportunity to talk about BAWT with likeminded folks from across the country! Because this closure follows our busiest week and Memorial Day Weekend, we strongly encourage folks to plan and reserve gear well in advance for any trips going out end of May (including Memorial Day Weekend) and early June.
